Registered Accounts


DICO automatically insures all eligible Canadian deposits in each type of registered account. Registered accounts include the following:

  • Registered Retired Savings Plan (RRSP)
  • Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF)
  • Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP)
  • Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP)
  • Life Income Fund (LIF)
  • Locked-in Retirement Account (LIRA)
  • Locked-in Retirement Income Fund (LRIF)
  • Tax Free Savings Accounts (TFSA)

What's covered?

Deposits held in registered accounts or contracts include savings accounts and term deposits GICs. To be insured, deposits must be held in Canadian dollars at an Ontario credit union.

How much is covered?

Insurable deposits held in registered accounts or contracts are separately insured from other deposits and are fully insured.
